The Atomos StudioSonic Shotgun Microphone combines a supercardioid 20Hz–20kHz production microphone with a dedicated 2.4GHz receiver, allowing the same mic to work wirelessly, over analogue 3.5mm or through 48kHz/24-bit USB-C audio.

The 224mm aluminium microphone is designed to concentrate pickup toward the subject while rejecting more off-axis sound than an omnidirectional design. Low-cut and high-frequency boost options help tailor location dialogue, while up to 130dB SPL handling provides headroom for louder sources.

Wireless mode uses the supplied receiver with less than 20ms specified sound delay. The microphone can also run directly over cable for longer battery life, and its internal battery is rated differently by mode: approximately 32–50 hours wired, 8–10 hours wireless and around 5 hours when using onboard recording.
